General Theophilus Danjuma, the ex-minister of defence, has called on the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to investigate President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
The former minister claimed that Jonathan’s government was very corrupt.
Danjuma stated this while inaugurating three newly built bridges, costing over N500million, along Takum-Katsina Ala road in Taraba state.
The former minister of defence expressed dismay that the country’s debt was over $60 billion.
He said he was optimistic that the president-elect on taking office would investigate people guilty of corruption.
Danjuma emphasized the debt burden was acquired by the financial recklessness of the outgoing administration.
“What we are hearing is that the treasury of the country is empty at the federal level. A debt of $60 would be left behind for the incoming government,” he stated.
“I’m calling on the new administration to investigate what happened to our monies as soon as Buhari takes over power on May 29. With that, some of the stolen funds would be recovered.”
Danjuma also advised well meaning Nigerians, including the security agencies, to collaborate with the incoming administration to succeed.
President Jonathan has recently said he expects himself, his ministers and aides to be probed after he leaves office.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress said Buhari will not probe the outgoing president and his government officials.
