Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Nigeria’s president, said Nigerians receieve a ‘new opportunity’ in the incoming government of the president-elect Muhammadu Buhari to make Nigeria work for the better again.

Obasanjo spoke while receiving women leaders in the Southwest at his Abeokuta private residence on Presidential Hilltop Estate.

Former president stated that the new opportunity is God-given.

He said the “good things” about the next government is that the man that would head it – Buhari, is neither “a green – horn nor a novice” in ruling.

According to Obasanjo, the president-elect was once in the seat before, even if it was under a ‘different circumstance’ and would use his experience to rule the country in right direction.

He stated that Nigerians are quite clever and urged Buhari to be honest with them, saying he should not do “cover up” or try to play “ostrich” on them.

Ex-president added that there is a very high expectations about the in-coming administration to sort things out rapidly for Nigerians, but also added that there is equally a high level of grace locally and worldwide in its favour.

He advised Buhari “not to be frightened” by the huge expectations and the intimidating problems of Nigeria.

Obasanjo said the president-elect should take the right course within the next three months of being inaugurated when Nigerians are watching and counting to see what would be done to better their lives.

Alaba Lawson, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, who praised Obasanjo for his fatherly role to Nigeria, asked him not to refrain from offering quality advice to the incoming government.

Moreover, Chief Olusgun Obasanjo, has recently recommended a way forward for Buhari’s administration in governing a new Nigeria.

He also has tasked president-elect to prioritise all sectors as he assumes office May 29, 2015.
